Professional Training

Performance Horse Development

I have over 25 years of experience, 8 of which have been focused on training and developing young horses. I specialize in young hunters and equitation horses but am open to working with jumpers as well. I am passionate about starting horses slowly and with correct biomechanics.  I will develop a training schedule for each individual horse, with a focus on building a solid foundation based on the dressage scales of training. Although I am a hunter/jumper rider, these training elements are essential to prepare a horse for success in any discipline!

The goal is to develop a horse that can accept contact and have impulsion while also maintaining rhythm, balance, suppleness and relaxation. Working any horse incorrectly, especially young ones, will lead to improper use of their muscles, stiffness, crookedness, and eventually lameness. My training philosophy combined with the use of alternative wellness therapies leads to a comfortable, healthy, and happy athlete.

I started out riding at age 7 with Terry Schreiber. As a junior, I rode with Armand and Martha Chenelle and competed at the national ASPCA Maclay and USEF hunter seat medal finals. As an adult amateur, I rode with Kathy Fletcher, Annie Dotoli, and Bob Graham. Over the years, I won numerous championships at horse shows on the east coast including HITS Saugerties & Ocala, Saratoga, Fairfield, Fieldstone, and Capital Challenge. I have also had many top finishes in multiple state and national finals including:

Ariat National Medal Finals - Reserve Champion

NEEC Adult Medal Finals (younger) - Reserve Champion

NEEC Adult Medal Finals (middle) - Champion

CHJA Junior Medal Finals - Champion
